Australia Maps For Trekkers

from: Oze Parrot

Adventure travel and trekking is a popular activity for many people that are seeking to keep fit and explore some of the world's most exciting destinations. Trekking, in itself, is a sporting endeavor and as such, trekking becomes addictive. After completing a journey, the enthusiast looks forward to the next trekking adventure. There is no end to the list of provocative situations that an avid trekker can find himself in, enticed by the expectation of immense satisfaction.

Of course, when exploring a scenic landscape or a magnificent rainforest, a trekker can be accused of taking no more than an invigorating walk. True as this may be, trekking encompasses all types of outdoor activity and can be readily applied to mountaineering, snow sledding or exploring the pavements of a city street. Having performed any one of these endeavors will satisfy one's sense of adventure and produce a sense of self achievement.

Once deciding upon trekking Australia, the traveler should consult an Australian trekking map. Many Australian trekking maps are distributed world wide in printed form or reproduced by the electronic media on the Internet. While perusing one of these maps, a novice trekker may be aghast by the number of exciting destinations, which offer a host of activities that are waiting to be explored by the enthusiast, in this vast land.

Tasmania, an Island state of Australia, is about 240 kilometres from the mainland, across the Bass Strait. Tasmania has about half a million residents and occupies about 68,332 square kilometres. The island is 364 kilometres deep, 300 kilometres broad, is bounded by Bass Strait in the north, the Pacific ocean to the east and the Southern Ocean to the west. Tasmania is located below the 40th parallel, in the pathway of the roaring forties, and has a temperate climate.

There are many adventure activities to be enjoyed in Tasmania, rock climbing, hang gliding, caving, bush walking, white water rafting to name but a few adventures that await the ardent trekker. Activities are available for most of the year, however the weather is most favorable during the summer.

Tasmania is just one small part of this great continent of Australia. Arm yourself with some good maps to help you plan your trekking adventure, contact other seasoned trekkers through the Internet and learn from their experience. Trek Australia once and you will never forget the land down under.
